Robert Davies (York antiquary) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Robert Davies (York antiquary) Robert Davies (1793 – 1875) was an English lawyer and antiquarian, known for his works on the city of York. ==Life== The eldest son of Peter Davies, by his wife Ann, daughter of Robert Rhodes, he was born at York on 19 August 1793, and educated at St. Peter's Royal Grammar School in the city. Admitted a solicitor in 1814, he practised for many years in York, and was town clerk there from 1827 until 1848. He was in partnership with John Bayldon from 1829 to 1834. After his retirement from business he was elected a magistrate. Davies was elected a member of the Society of Antiquaries of London on 22 December 1842. He died at his residence, The Mount, in the city of York, on 23 August 1875, and was buried in the cemetery on 29 August.〔
